Corrector Yui Manga Anime Art Series

Corrector Yui is a magical girl anime series created by Kia Asamiya. The anime series was produced by Nippon Animation and Studio Pierrot. Broadcast on NHK from 1999 to 2000. It was licensed for North American release by Viz Media. This series has aired on Cartoon Network outside of the United States.

Two manga series were also released: a two volume series by Asamiya and published in Ciao from 1999 to 2000; and a nine volume two-part series by Keiko Okamoto which was published by NHK Publishing. The second manga series licensed in North America and translated into English by TOKYOPOP beginning in 2002. However, there are rumors that in 2009 Tokyopop may drop the rights to the English-language version of the manga.[citation needed] If that occurs, Viz Media may pick up the property.[citation needed]

This series follows a basic magical-girl progression, and falls into many of the magical girl tropes common in the late nineties.[citation needed] The series is innovative amongst magical girl series in that Yui's powers all derive from not just the technology she uses, but are incorporated entirely into her on-line avatar, with no real powers granted outside of the network.

True Love Story is a series of four dating sims as distinct from the similar but unrelated title True Love. True Love Story and True Love Story 2 were released by ASCII for the PlayStation. True Love Story 3 and True Love Story: Summer Days. The True Love Story land are notable for their gekō, or walk-home system. When the player asks a girl to walk home with him from school, the game enters a special conversation mode. In this mode, in addition to the usual long-term, strategic "love meter", the girl you are conversing with has a short-term, tactical "heartthrob meter" representing her level of immediate interest in the conversation with you. Yuuta Morisaki moved into the city after his mother's death with his older sister; Ruri and attended the same highschool. In the school corridor, he bumped into a student in the name of Hina Kusunose who participates in the Tennis Club. From that moment onward, Yuuta remembered his childhood promise he made to the girl whom he used to play with when his mother was still alive.

Fruits Basket, sometimes abbreviated Furuba, is a shōjo manga series by Natsuki Takaya. It was serialized in the semi-monthly Japanese magazine Hana to Yume, published by Hakusensha, from 1999 to 2006. The series was also adapted into a 26-episode anime series, directed by Akitaro Daichi. The series tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Sohma, learns that thirteen members of the Sohma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and are cursed to turn into their animal forms if they are embraced by anyone of the opposite sex. Though at least by the anime it's more of just torso to torso touch that activates it.

The word "Fruits" in the title is always plural; the spelling originates from the transcription of the English word "fruit" into Japanese, where because there is no "tu" sound, "tsu" is used instead. The title comes from the name of a popular game played in Japanese elementary schools, which is alluded to in the series. The 136 chapters of Fruits Basket were originally serialized in Japan by Hakusensha in Hana to Yume from January 1999 to November 2006. These were collected in 23 tankōbon volumes, with the final volume published in Japan on March 19, 2007.

The series is licensed in English in North America and the United Kingdom by Tokyopop and in Singapore by Chuang Yi. The Singapore edition is licensed to be imported to Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment. All 23 English-language volumes have been released in North America and Singapore. In addition, Tokyopop released a box set containing the first four volumes in October 2007, and started re-releasing earlier volumes in "Ultimate Editions" combining two sequential volumes in a single larger hard-cover volume with new cover art. The first Ultimate Edition release met with mixed reviews, however, because they exactly reproduce the first two volumes without correcting changed page numbers or prior errors. As of June 2008, four Ultimate Editions have been released, covering the first eight volumes of the series.

Chuang Yi also publishes in Singapore a Simplified Chinese edition as well as English. In Europe, Fruits Basket is licensed in French by Delcourt, in Spanish by Norma Editorial, in Italian by Dynit, in Dutch by Glénat, in German and Swedish by Carlsen Comics, in Finnish by Sangatsu Manga, and in Polish by Japonica Polonica Fantastica. In Latin America, Editorial Vid has released the complete series in Mexico in Spanish, and Editora JBC began releasing a Portuguese translation in Brazil in April 2005.

Canvas 2 Romance Anime Series

Also known as just Canvas 2, is a dating sim by F&C FC01 with a 24-episode romance anime produced by Kadokawa Shoten based on the game, along with a manga series of the same name. The series focuses on the lives of some students and teachers at Nadesico Academy both at school and their private lives. The main character of the series is Kamikura Hiroki, who lives with his younger cousin Elis. Hiroki is training to become a full-fledged art teacher while also trying to take care of Elis. When his childhood friend Kiri starts working at the school, drama begins to flare as he has to juggle his work, private life, and the feelings for these two important girls.

Kamikura Hiroki is an art student at the local school Nadesico Achedemy (High School and colledge level) that tends to be an arts teacher in the future. He is also the advisor to the high school arts society where his cousin, Housen Ellse attends. While Ellse is a painter like Hiroki, Hiroki seems to have given up on his dreams and no longer paints. There appears to be some mysterious trauma in the past for both of them that have changed them. Meanwhile, the high school hires a new PE teacher, Kikyo Kiri. On the first day, she bumps into Hiroki and is stunned. Here is the boy she confessed to and he refused her.

Hollywood and its failure on making good live action adaptations of anime series (I)

Just as it usually happens with American comics (save a few exceptions, cough *The Dark Knight* cough), live action adaptations of anime/manga series have traditionally been an utter failure in box offices worldwide.

With the upcoming opening of Avatar: The Last Airbender this month on your nearest cinema, we can review the why and what will happen in the future with pending live action anime adaptations.

We have to keep in mind that Japanese cinema is still the ideal media for live action adaptations of animes, even if audiences are reduced to locals and fans.


Dragon Ball Z: Evolution (2009):

This adaptation had James Wong as a director and a less than ideal cast  to play the characters, neither Chow Yun Fat or James Marsters could save this lackluster (they didn't look like the characters anyway!). The project started with a completely wrong approach, as if they didn't understand what the manga was about at all.

Even Krillin and Tien got removed from the script because they weren't considered relevant. And if we take the $100 million budget,it's difficult to know in what they spent it.

Rather than creating a solid script with specific details that was faithful to the manga and capture its essence, the film had this super tacky Mortal Kombat, Power Rangers, B-movie feel that leaves a bad taste in your brain after the credits roll . Ultraviolet was not so bad, if you look at it.

No wonder that fans of the original manga by Akira Toriyama consider it a total shame.

Sometimes I can't help thinking that if we had a real movie of Dragon Ball, with all the drama involved, at least half an hour would go only in the fight of Goku and Vegeta gathering strength XD. I don't know if a series or miniseries would be better in this case.

Good news on the AX front...

Maybe the new management of AX is actually THINKING THROUGH some of the things about AX that wallow in a sweaty mass of lameness.

Last year, AX charged $20 for a pass for the shuttle buses. Unless you booked a hotel through the con, which can be sketchy.

This year, however, AX is GIVING people who buy a 4 day pass a shuttle bus pass! Holy moly! They are doing the right thing, for once! This could be a trend! Stay tuned.

A Supernatural anime in the works!

MADHOUSE, the studio behind series like Death Note and Vampire Hunter D, is producing the anime version of the CW series as part of a project for Warner Brothers.

According to the site Cinema Today, this is the first project by a Japanese studio based on foreign series.

Supernatural: the animation will be released on DVD and Blu Ray on January 12th, February 2nd and April 6th, 2011 respectively in Japan by Warner Home Video.

While animeanime.jp reports that the series will contain 22 episodes or OVAS that will cover the story of the first two seasons of the live action series, adding new scenes and original stories, as well as details of the Winchester brother's childhood.

Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Trigun) is in charge of character designs.

The seiyuus for the characters of Sam and Dean will be Yuya Uchida and Hiroki Touchi, the actors that did the Japanese dub for its broadcast in that country.

Is DB no longer subbing Bleach anymore?

Following on from a poll the other day, Crunchyroll have now setup a petition to get 100,000 signatures and help it aquire the rights to simucast Bleach.

The petition will be sent directly to Japan, and if sucessful, could see simucasted on the site.

Crunchyroll already have a deal with Tokyo TV and is enjoying sucess with other SJ shows such as Naruto Shippuden and Fairy Tail

DC Direct: AME-COMI Anime Hero & Heroine PVC Statue Series

The pictures up above are 4 different brand-new "Japan Anime-Inspired" PVC Statue Figures to keep an eye out for in the future. They're called "Ame-Comi Hero & Heroine Series". Of course they are Japanese-Style versions of Batman, Robin, Modern Batgirl ( Cassandra Cain ), & Catwoman.
