Shaman King

Shaman King is both an anime series and a manga series by Hiroyuki Takei. The manga ended prematurely in Japan with 32 volumes in total. The anime concluded its run with a total of 64 episodes and 3 specials.
A shaman is some one who connects this world and the spirit world. In Shaman King, shamans team up with ghosts and spirits to achieve their goals. The greatest dreams of a shaman is to become the Shaman King, who is able to contact the Great Spirit (the spirit that every soul will eventually go back to) in order to be the savior of the world. Various magical and religious terms are spread through out the story but they merge into something explainable by the time the main plot arrives.

The manga starts with Manta Oyamada, a studious middle-school student in Tokyo , attempting a shortcut through the graveyard to get home after a late night of cram school. It is here that Manta meets another boy named Yoh Asakura, who happens to be a shaman, and is frightened to discover that Yoh is surrounded by ghosts – it is at this moment that Manta learns that he can see ghosts. Over the first few chapters, Yoh and Manta become best friends, and, over the next few months, Manta learns about the life of a shaman.

Yoh soon encounters Tao Ren, with whom he battles. Anna Kyoyama, Yoh's fiancée, soon enters the picture and prescribes a brutal training regimen, in order to prepare Yoh for the upcoming Shaman Tournament. The tournament is held once every 500 years and is a battle between competing shaman to choose a winner, who will be known as the Shaman King. This winner will gain the ability to reshape the world as he or she chooses, to make his or her dream come true. Thus begins the plot that will lead Yoh on a journey that will lead him to many friends and adventures.

Through a series of events and also through participation in the Shaman Tournament, Yoh meets and befriends numerous characters and changes their lives through friendship and authentic concern, which seems to be a pervasive theme throughout the series.

n November of 2004, Shaman King was cancelled by Weekly Shonen Jump. Shaman King was let go due to declining popularity in Jump's fan polls (indicated by their willingness to release the final completed manga volume (Vol. 32) if there was a great enough fan response).[1] This cancellation was untimely given that the series was nearing its end.[2] Release of the final volume had been suspended indefinitely, but was released in spring of 2006.[3]

Volume 32 ends with Yoh going to sleep to prepare for the final battle with Hao; the final page is viewed as Manta's dream, which features Hao as a princess with Yoh and his friends on their way to rescue "her". The reason for that is because Anna was speaking to Manta as if Hao was the person in need of rescue. The page contains the words "Owari" ("The End") and next to that, in front of Horohoro's sword, is a mandarin orange, also called "mikan" which is the Japanese word for "incomplete".

Pro Evolution Soccer 6

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is one of Konami's highly successful Pro Evolution Soccer franchise. Released on October 27, 2006 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and PC platforms and following on the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable on December 1, 2006, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is the 6th edition of the series for the PlayStation 2, 2nd for the PlayStation Portable and 4th for PC. This year features Pro Evolution Soccer 6 making its debut on the Nintendo DS and the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 version features improved graphics, but retains gameplay similar to the other console versions. The edit mode has been stripped down for the Xbox 360 release, due to time restrictions. The graphics engine on the PC does not utilise the next-gen 360 engine but will again be a direct conversion of the PlayStation 2 engine.

A Bundesliga license was supposed to be a feature of the game but Konami were forced to remove the Bundesliga license, which means the Bundesliga is not present in PES6, not even as a series of unlicensed teams.

This is the first time the International Challenge Mode has been included on the PES Series. Usually this is seen on the Japanese version - Winning Eleven - where you play as Japan and take them through the qualifiers to the International Cup and then attempt to win it. On PES, however, you have the ability to choose any playable nation on the game. The user can only play the qualifiers from Europe, South America and North/Central America. Although the tournament is not licensed, the qualifiers have a lot of similarities:

  • A cross-playoff is used between a South American team and an Oceanian team, and a North American team plays an Asian team.
  • There is the same number of qualifiers on the game from each region as there is in the real World Cup. e.g, 14 qualify from Europe.
  • The qualifiers from South America are the same - 10 teams play each other twice with the top 4 qualifying and 5th place entering the cross-playoff.
  • The qualifiers from North America are the same - 6 teams play each other twice with the top 3 qualifying and 4th place entering the cross-playoff.

Team selection can be changed before each game and the player can choose from any player with the eligible nationality.

It should be noted that there are many more unlicensed national teams available in International Challenge Mode featuring full squads. Still those teams can not be selected to be used in International Challenge or any other game mode. These teams are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Israel, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Bolivia, Venezuela, China, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, UAE (United Arab Emirates), North Korea, Uzbekistan and Bahrain. The International Challenge mode is only available in the PlayStation 2 and PC versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 6. The Xbox 360 and PSP versions do not include this mode.

Kenshin Himura

Kenshin is born into a peasant family under the given name of "Shinta". After losing both his parents to cholera by age seven, he is later sold into slavery. The slave-traders' caravan is then attacked by bandits who killed all with the exception of Shinta, who is saved by Seijūrō. Seijūrō decides to adopt Shinta into his apprenticeship, and renames the boy "Kenshin" (with 'Ken' meaning 'sword' and 'Shin' meaning 'heart'), believing that 'Shinta' is not a fitting name for a swordsman.

After a few years under Seijūrō's guidance, Kenshin's wish to protect the people with his skills results in his abandonment of both his master and his training. His sword skills soon attract the attention of Takasugi Shinsaku, who transfers him into the ranks of Katsura Kogoro, a leader of the Chōshū clan. Kenshin is sent to Kyoto and assigned the role of an assassin, sharing the common goal of the Ishin Shishi upon the Tokugawa Shogunate. Within the first six months of his career, he kills over 100 people, and eventually became known as the "Hitokiri Battōsai". At one point, he comes face to face with Yukishiro Tomoe, who initially wanted to avenge the death of her fiancé, whom Kenshin had killed, but falls in love with him instead. After the crisis suffered by the Chōshū clan in the Ikedaya Jiken, both Kenshin and Tomoe get married and flee to a remote village.

Sometime later, Tomoe meets with the leader of the Yaminobu, a fictional pro-Shogunate covert network of ninjas that had formulated a plan to assassinate Kenshin. She realizes that all along they had actually used her to create Kenshin's weakness. Meanwhile, Kenshin runs off to find his wife, but is ambushed by Yaminobu ninjas and severely wounded. He escapes and eventually finds Tomoe with the leader of the Yaminobu. In a desperate attempt to defeat the leader, Kenshin blindly swings his sword, killing both his assailant and Tomoe, who had jumped in at the last minute to save Kenshin from a fatal attack. Tomoe's knife had flown into the air and coincidentally slashed Kenshin's cheek, creating the famous X-shaped scar across his left cheek. Following the death of Tomoe, Katsura replaces Kenshin in his role as assassin. Kenshin is reassigned as a guerrilla swordsman protecting the Imperialists. After the end of the Bakumatsu, Kenshin leaves Kyoto.

Kenshin's desire is to protect people from danger without killing. Formerly known as "the strongest hitokiri," Kenshin is the main target of many old enemies, thus he avoids letting others get too close to him personally for their own protection. However, he eventually begins relying on a few friends, such as Sagara Sanosuke, his most reliable friend, and Myōjin Yahiko, whom he sometimes allows to fight alongside him. He also has a rivalry with the ex-Shinsengumi member Saitō Hajime since the Bakumatsu. Although they become partners in the series, they both know that one day they will finish their duel. After the end of the Jinchu Arc, Kenshin challenges Saitō to end the rivalry but Saitō refuses to fight since Kenshin is different from the time they were enemies.

Throughout the series, a young woman named Kaoru develops strong romantic feelings for him, and he also comes to love her. Despite his feelings, he is constantly haunted by the wrongs committed in his past, and believes he does not deserve happiness. However, as he notes how Kaoru would feel if he dies, Kenshin decides not to leave her and regains a desire to survive.

If he is not able to protect his loved ones, he begins to shift into his "Hitokiri Battōsai" personality, and takes extreme measures in order save others, caring little for the well-being of his opponents. However, Kenshin avoids changing his personality, swearing that he will never kill, and will try to avoid the deaths of as many people possible.

Kenshin's Japanese-language dialogue contains some unusual words and catch phrases which can cause problems in translations. Most of the time, he refers to himself with the extremely humble pronoun "sessha" (translated in the manga by Viz as "this one") and uses the formal verb "de gozaru" (conveyed by Media Blasters by phrases like "…that it is."). He also addresses most women with an honorific which is generally reserved for feudal lords. In the English anime, "Miss Kaoru" is used instead of "Kaoru-dono." When in his "Battōsai" mode, Kenshin changes from being polite to serious; one of his quotes, "de gozaru", disappears and "sessha" is replaced with the more typical brash male pronoun "ore". Along the series, Kenshin uses the quote "oro", which expresses surprise or dismay, based on the similar exclamation "ara" (generally considered feminine). As proper Japanese vocabulary, "oro" only exists as a word for lochia. In the English dub, "oro" has been translated into "huh". "Oro" is kept intact in the Viz manga

Tekken 5

Tekken 5 is credited for taking the series back to its roots. It incorporates a faster, more fluid fighting system, improved graphics, returning characters, and some of the Tekken series' trademark infinite stages. New to Tekken 5 is the crush system which affects the vulnerability of a character while they attack. For example, a move with jumping properties, such as a hopkick, will be completely invulnerable during most of its animation time to all of an opponent's low attacks.

It also retains its wall juggling concept from Tekken 4, but the element is effectively less easy to abuse and easier to defend against. The home version is a collector's edition of sorts, as it includes the arcade versions of Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3 and StarBlade (as a hidden game). Tekken 5 also allowed players to customize their fighter for the first time, allowing them to change the colors of their outfits, buy additional costumes (only available to a few characters), and equip them with items by using money gained from playing the Story, Survival, Time Attack, the side-story Devil Within, and Arcade Battle modes.

Tekken 5 includes a fighting minigame in direct lineage to the Tekken Force modes in Tekken 3 and Tekken 4 called Devil Within. This minigame follows the adventures of Jin Kazama as he searches the G Corporation in search for information on his missing mother and other answers. Being somewhat story oriented, the player is not permitted to use their own choice of characters like previous iterations. The game also uses a limited button system, incorporating a Block and Jump button as well as sizing down the attack buttons to simple "Punch" and "Kick" buttons (though, some of Jin's fighting special moves can still be performed such as his Demon's Paw). Along with fighting various Jack models in the mini-game, the player must pursue minor key quests to proceed. This mode is one of the two ways to unlock the playable version of Jin's Devil incarnation.

After the conclusion of King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, father Kazuya Mishima and son Jin Kazama, battle each other at Honmaru, located within the Mishima estate. Jin quickly beats his father. The eldest Mishima, Heihachi, enters the Honmaru to find his son defeated and unconscious. Heihachi and Jin begin battling. During the battle, Jin begins to manifest the Devil he inherited from his father, Kazuya. Just as it appears that Jin will kill Heihachi, Jin suddenly gains control of his body and flies away.

Suddenly, a bunch of "Jack" robots interrupt the battle. Both Kazuya and Heihachi are surprised at the attack, and begin battling as a team against the invasion. During the battle, however, Kazuya betrays his father, throws him into the kiss of death. Raven, watching on top of the cliff, speaks into a headphone, reports, "Heihachi Mishima...is dead."

After hearing of Heihachi's death, people believed that it would bring the end of the Mishima Zaibatsu. However, an unknown person had taken control, and a month later Mishima Zaibatsu announced the opening of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5.

One Piece "Grand Advanture"

One Piece: Grand Adventure (Wan Pisu: Gurando Adobenchaa) is a video game for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube. Unlike other One Piece video games, this one was developed specifically for the US. The gameplay is similar to One Piece Grand Battle! (known in Japan as One Piece: Grand Battle Rush!). Based on the popular Anime and Manga series, One Piece, Grand Adventure contains more characters (Zeff, Kuina), levels, and features, some of which were cut out of the U.S One Piece Grand Battle. game was also released in Korea, Australia, and in both Spain and the UK in Europe.

One of the new features in Grand Adventure is Adventure mode, which allows the player to sail the Grand Line and visit various islands from the One Piece anime, similar to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (though unlike The Wind Waker, you will be able to select certain "hotspots" and sail there automatically). On these islands, the character will engage in combat against other One Piece characters, who if defeated may join your character's crew, or play in various mini-games. In the fights, characters gain experience points and can level up, where the player can level up certain stats of the character (HP, attack, defense, etc.).

There are 5 known Captains and their difficulties:

  • Captain Monkey D. Luffy - Easy -level 3-30
  • Captain Buggy the Clown - Normal -level 5-30~
  • Mr.0/Sir Crocodile - Hard -level 20-40~

While the support characters are not controllable, they are able to help the player when called out. There are six types of support characters: Dash, Jump, Ride, Recovery, Gun, and Area. Each type of support character has its own advantages and disadvantages in battle.

Each character is assigned support characters. Every character has at least one, but none of them have more than three. In some game modes, the support characters the player can choose from are limited to the ones assigned to that specific character. In most modes, all unlocked support characters are available. There are some exceptions where a support character can never be used by any character other than the one it was assigned to. In some cases, a support character does not even have a character that it is assigned to.

Absalom, The General Zombie of Thriller Bark

Absalom, while not invisible, is a thin, richly dressed man with a muzzle of a lion stitched to his face. Underneath his garments is a body stitched from various animal parts. Absalom's skin is that of an elephant and his muscles is a mixture of a bear and a gorilla. The combined weight of these transplants, along with his body, gives Absalom a total weight of 300 kilograms. These transplants on Absalom's body were all performed by Dr. Hogback.
Absalom is a major pervert, and everyone around him knows it. The Zombies in the graveyard particularly nickname him "Erosalom" due to his highly amorous nature despite him being their leader. It seems to be that he seeks women to be his bride amongst other things. He particularly likes weak women who can't fight back. He also considers himself to be beautiful and kidnapped Nami to become his bride, nevertheless he is absolutely terrified of Lola because of her "love" for him.

Absalom speaks in a distinct style. He often refers himself in the plural tense such in lines such as, "You will be our bride." He also claims not to be a zombie, but in fact a human being despite looking otherwise.
Absalom has also a tendency to sprout bad jokes that are often unnoticed. These include him saying, "Being mean to Kumacy must fill you with ecstasy. Ecsmacy?", when he noted how cruel Perona was to Kumacy, and saying, "So cruel to Hogback. Cruelback.", when noted cruel Cindry was to Hogback. Oda in response to a fan who noted, replied that this is rather ironic since this means that even Absalom's sense of humor is invisible.

Absalom has eaten the Suke Suke no Mi which gives him the ability to turn himself and other things invisible. He most notably uses it's powers to peep on and molest women. Absalom is also able to turn other people invisible by simply touching them

Absalom first appeared as an invisible being of some sort that kept five of the Straw Hats, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Robin, and Franky, from going ashore to the island. He licked Robin from bottom to top with his tongue. He later attacked Nami while she was bathing in the bathroom in Hogback's mansion. After being driven away by Usopp, Absalom met briefly with Hogback and one of Perona's ghosts. There he and his companions decided to commence the attack on the Straw Hats.

"Red Haired" Shanks Crew:

The Red-Haired Pirate crew spend most of their time partying and having a good time, as they are seen on most of their appearances. Their crew strength is considerably high, considering their captain is one of the Yonkou

"Red haired" Shanks

Captain

Shanks is Monkey D. Luffy's childhood hero and a former member of Gol D. Roger's Crew. Despite having few appearances, he plays a major role in the series. Shanks has three scars across his left eye, inflicted in a battle with Blackbeard. Shanks is missing his left arm, which he lost while saving Luffy from a Sea King. Shanks and his crew are almost always seen partying and drinking alcoholic beverages whenever they make an appearance as the Captain's favourite pastimes are attending and hosting parties and banquets. Shanks' fighting abilities are formidable; he was considered a rival of Mihawk prior to losing his arm, and he regularly clashed with Whitebeard's crew while serving under Gol D. Roger. His monsterous "spiritual intent" is so great that junior members of the Whitebeard crew pass out by merely being in his presence.

When he was still an apprentice he and Buggy the Clown worked on the same ship, although they were big rivals and disagreed on everything

Yasopp

Snipper

Yasopp is a gifted sharp-shooter said to be capable of shooting the legs off an ant at 100 feet without harming the rest of it. He is the father of Usopp and was one of Luffy's favorite members of the Red-Haired pirates. In his first appearance Yasopp wears a headband with his name on it. In his most recent appearances he has dropped the headband and grown dreadlocks.

In the anime only, Yasopp had a duel with Daddy the Father. Daddy lost against Yasopp and wanted to be killed, but Yasopp let him live after seeing a picture of his daughter.

Rockstar

Miscellaneous Crew

(94,000,000 beli bounty) Rockstar is a newer member of Red-Haired Shanks pirate crew. Shanks sends him to deliver a message to Whitebeard, which the pirate captain promptly ripped up, going along with Shanks' prediction anyway. Rockstar wants to fight Whitebeard to reclaim his honor, but Shanks tells him it was no big deal and to pull back

Benn Beckman

First Mate

Ben Beckman
is the first mate in Red-Haired Shanks' pirate crew, he possesses astonishing wisdom and strength, and acts as an advisor to his captain. When first seen in the manga and anime, he wears his black hair in a ponytail, and is never seen without his rifle nearby or a cigarette in his mouth. Later in the series, his hair has turned grey and is cut short, and he has a large X-shaped scar on his left temple. He appears to be a lot less fun-loving than the other members of the crew but a lot more relaxed, acting as the level headed member. It appears he is quite strong, wiping out a large group of Higuma the Bear's mates rather quickly. According to Eiichiro Oda, Ben Beckman has the highest IQ of all the characters introduced in the East Blue saga

Lucky Roux

Lieutenant

Lucky Roux is the fat member of the pirate crew and is always seen eating a rack of meat. He usually using white-green striped t-shirt. Lucky is also the first person to actually kill someone in One Piece and sets the stage for the series; a pirate's life is a dangerous one.

Shanks's flag is a standard Jolly Roger, similar in appearance to the flag of Calico Jack. It has 3 slashes on the left eye and two swords in place of crossbones. The Red-Hair Pirates ship is called "Red Force", a large dragon-themed vessel
